Winter Sports

Any winter sport is played on either ice or snow. Most winter sports are simply the variations of ice skating, sledding, and skiing. Traditionally they were only played in cold areas over winter. Nowadays an artificial snow, as well as an artificial ice, allow more flexibility, so they can be used for providing the needed ice rinks for ice skating, bandy and ice hockey in a milder climate.

The most common individual sports include Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, figure skating, speed skating, luge, bobsleigh, snowmobiling, and skeleton. The most common team sports include curling, ice hockey, and bandy. Ice hockey is known to be based on the number of participants by far the world's most popular winter sport. Winter sports often have their own multi-sport tournaments and an example of such tournaments may be the Winter Olympic Games which are a major international sporting event.

Held once every four years for sports practiced on ice and snow since 1924, the Winter Olympic Games have evolved since their inception. Thus, disciplines and sports have been added. Some of them (for example, Alpine skiing, short track speed skating, luge, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, and skeleton) have become an essential part the Olympic program.

The modern Winter Olympic sport may be represented in a way of a professionally-created illustration with help of the ConceptDraw DIAGRAM diagramming and drawing software as well as the Winter Sports solution which contains winter sports illustrations and diagram examples and templates, as well as vector clipart libraries.

The Winter Sports solution can be used by any ConceptDraw DIAGRAM user who is interested in the winter sportive activities for creating their own original winter sports illustrations, presentation slides, infographics and blog pages.
