How to Create a Rack Diagram

Rack Diagrams are created to document the computer and network equipment configuration. Making a Rack diagram involves many different elements that can be managed using ConceptDraw DIAGRAM The ability to design the Rack Diagram is delivered by the Rack Diagrams solution.

Run ConceptDraw DIAGRAM.
Reveal the rack Diagrams on the Solutions panel.
Select the Rack diagrams library to open it on the Library panel. Now, you've got a work-space and the Rack library.

Drag a Rack object onto the drawing page.
Use the Action button menu to set the required parameters of your Rack.

Use Set Rack Height action to set the height of the rack depending on the number of rack units. You can also increase or reduce rack height by 1U using actions Add 1U and Remove 1U.
Use Hide/Show Dividers action to hide or show the height scale.
Select equipment objects from the library and place them into the rack by dragging.
To add text, click the object and type. To move the text, drag the yellow control point.

To add and store data with an object, right-click it, point to Custom Properties on the context menu.
In the Custom Properties side panel click Add Custom Properties, type values for the data that you want to provide with the current object.

Result: You can easily create a rack diagram using equipment icons fitting to industry standards. You can also supply a diagram with additional useful information such as serial number, manufacturer, location, etc.
