How to Set a Project Baseline

A Project baseline is used to measure and control of project activities. It gives the project manager the best way to understand project progress (by analyzing baselines vs. actuals) and estimate the project outcome. A Project baseline usually includes, but are not limited to:

• The Scheduled Start and Finish Dates;
• The planned Work (hours);
• Planned or budgeted Cost.

Project baseline in ConceptDraw PROJECT is excellent for guiding the execution of the current project and can be useful for further projects.
The project baseline in ConceptDraw PROJECT includes three parameters: Base start, Base Finish, and Base cost. You can set the Baseline to record the original project plan when that plan is completed and refined. As the project progresses, the Baseline will help you to measure any changes in the plan.

1. Run ConceptDraw PROJECT and the new project document will be created automatically.
2. Create your project tasks list, pressing the Enter key to add new Task lines.
3. When you complete the planning and your project is ready, you need to save the Baseline.
   Windows: Save Baseline button on the Home Tab
   macOS: Save Baseline command in the Edit menu
4. You can show the Baseline parameters in the project outline using the Column Customization dialog.
5. To compare the baseline cost vs actuals for any particular task use the Task Info panel.

Result: The Baseline parameters in the Multiproject and Gantt chart view will help you to determine any differences from your original plan and the actual state of your project.
