How to Create a Floor Plan

Creating a floor plan to scale is a challenge of the home and interior design process and can be noticeably helpful for visualizing things like furniture layout. You can use ConceptDraw DIAGRAM to produce layouts of real estate properties. ConceptDraw DIAGRAM contains the large number of predesigned vector objects that you can use for quick and easy designing such floor plans. You can easily determine the size of the rooms and distances in your drawing. The ability to create a floor plan is delivered by the Floor Plans solution. This solution extends ConceptDraw DIAGRAM with libraries that contain over 500 objects of floor plan elements. There is a set of special objects that display the sizes, corners, squares and other technical details using the current measurements of units.

1. Open a ConceptDraw DIAGRAM new document and select the libraries from the Floor Plans solution.
2. Set the measurement units and the scale for your plan using Document Properties panel available from the File menu.

3. Further, you can modify the measurement units for your document by clicking on the intersection of the vertical and horizontal Rulers.

4. Create your floor plan using objects from the proper libraries.

5. Open the libraries panel. Go to the “Floor Plans” solution and then open the “Dimensioning” library.
6. Select a dimension and insert it into the document by double-clicking. Drag a dimension object to the object you want to measure, and glue the ends of the dimension object to the points you want to measure.

7. Repeat the above step to supply your plan with all necessary dimensions.
