Odessa National Mechnikov University together with Opera Software and CS Odessa conducted a challenging open competition for programmers on Saturday, March 2
The Open Class Programmers’ Completion had two competitions on the same day; an onsite individual competition, and an online remote team competition. The online competition was open to teams of any size from companies, development teams, and educational institutions.
March 6, 2013, San Jose, California — The contested consisted of 10 challenge tasks to be completed successfully during the day of the contest. The challenge tasks varied in difficulty form easy to very hard. The percentage of completion for the tests varied from a high of 48% to a low of 0%. 60 competed in the individual offline segment and 30 teams were represented in the online segment of the contest.
Winners were selected based on the results of online testing programs that determined the success of the complied programs that were submitted for evaluation. Unsuccessful attempts to submit programs that did not pass the testing suite were counted as penalties to participating individuals and teams. 20 winners were selected at the conclusion of the day’s grueling contest.
The Open Class Programmers’ Competition was organized to draw attention to the programming talent that exists in the Ukraine and surrounding countries. The competition was organized to highlight individual and team skills in a time controlled environment to highlight the creative and talent of the contest entrants. All participants agreed that the structure of day gave ample opportunity to demonstrate their coding skills.
