How to Create a Floor Plan for the Classroom

The classroom environment is very important for students. Classroom layout has a big influence on the learning process. The size of the classroom and interior areas, the type of furniture the lightning, and the desk arrangement all influence how students learn. ConceptDraw enables you to build an effective classroom arrangement. Using ConceptDraw School and Training Plans solution you can quickly sketch the Floor Plan for your classroom. It provides you with a special library that contains the set of vector objects that represent desks, tables, storage and more. You can even change your classroom size and print your layout.

UML Class Diagram Generalization Example UML Diagrams

This sample was created in ConceptDraw DIAGRAM diagramming and vector drawing software using the UML Class Diagram library of the Rapid UML Solution from the Software Development area of ConceptDraw Solution Park.
This sample describes the use of the classes, the generalization associations between them, the multiplicity of associations and constraints. Provided UML diagram is one of the examples set that are part of Rapid UML solution.
This creative classroom floorplan sample illustrates furniture and appliances layout.
It was created on the base of the article "The Creative Curriculum and Classroom Layout" from the website of Bay Mills Community College.
"A classroom for young children benefits from having clearly defined, well-equipped interest areas that are arranged to promote independence, foster decision making, and encourage involvement. When the room is divided into interest areas, children are offered clear choices. An area set aside for books, art, or table toys provides opportunities for quiet play. Areas set aside for dramatic play, block building, woodworking, or large muscle experiences give the children options for active play. ... In the Creative Curriculum, the environment typically includes space for the following activities:
Blocks, House Corner, Table Toys, Outdoors, Art, Sand and Water, Library, Music and Movement. To further enrich the program, add space for cooking and computers." [bmcc.edu/ Headstart/ Bulletins/ Issue53/ article10.htm]

Emergency Plan

Fire emergency plan need to be in every building on each floor. The evacuation plan preliminary designed in ConceptDraw DIAGRAM software will help employees or family members when natural disasters, fires, hazardous leaks and other disaster events happen. Start drawing emergency blueprint from floor bounds, then put the inner walls and doors, and finally use arrows to show evacuation directions to fire exits.

"Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors. It differs from broadcast television in that the signal is not openly transmitted, though it may employ point to point (P2P), point to multipoint, or mesh wireless links. Though almost all video cameras fit this definition, the term is most often applied to those used for surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as banks, casinos, airports, military installations, and convenience stores. Videotelephony is seldom called "CCTV" but the use of video in distance education, where it is an important tool, is often so called.
In industrial plants, CCTV equipment may be used to observe parts of a process from a central control room, for example when the environment is not suitable for humans. CCTV systems may operate continuously or only as required to monitor a particular event. A more advanced form of CCTV, utilizing digital video recorders (DVRs), provides recording for possibly many years, with a variety of quality and performance options and extra features (such as motion detection and email alerts). More recently, decentralized IP cameras, some equipped with megapixel sensors, support recording directly to network-attached storage devices, or internal flash for completely stand-alone operation. Surveillance of the public using CCTV is particularly common in many areas around the world. In recent years, the use of body worn video cameras has been introduced as a new form of surveillance. ... In the United States, closed-circuit television is used for school security to monitor visitors, track unacceptable student behavior and maintain a record of evidence in the event of a crime. There are some restrictions on installation, cameras may not be used in an area where there is a "reasonable expectation of privacy". Examples of these are bathrooms, gym locker areas and private offices (unless consent by the office owner is given). Сameras are generally acceptable in hallways, parking lots, front offices where students, employees, and parents come and go, gymnasiums, cafeterias, supply rooms and classrooms. The use of cameras in classrooms is often debated by teachers who want cameras for protection and teachers who do not." [Closed-circuit television. Wikipedia]

This reflected ceiling plan example shows the lighting scheme of computer lab with overhead projector. It was drawn on the base of the RCP from website of Elon University, Elon, NC.
[elon.edu/ docs/ e-web/ bft/ cmdept/ Reflected%20 Ceiling.JPG]
"An overhead projector is a variant of slide projector that is used to display images to an audience. ...
Use in education.
The overhead projector facilitates an easy low-cost interactive environment for educators. Teaching materials can be pre-printed on plastic sheets, upon which the educator can directly write using a non-permanent, washable color marking pen. This saves time, since the transparency can be pre-printed and used repetitively, rather than having materials written manually before each class.
The overhead is typically placed at a comfortable writing height for the educator and allows the educator to face the class, facilitating better communication between the students and teacher. The enlarging features of the projector allow the educator to write in a comfortable small script in a natural writing position rather than writing in an overly large script on a blackboard and having to constantly hold his arm out in midair to write on the blackboard.
When the transparency sheet is full of written or drawn material, it can simply be replaced with a new, fresh sheet with more pre-printed material, again saving class time vs a blackboard that would need to be erased and teaching materials rewritten by the educator. Following the class period, the transparencies are easily restored to their original unused state by washing off with soap and water." [Overhead projector. Wikipedia]
