What's new in ConceptDraw Project 4

The core objective for us at CS Odessa that drove the development of ConceptDraw Project 4, was to build a project management solution that is easier-to-use and more intuitive than ever before; but at the same time provide extraordinary power. This increased ease-of-use combined with powerful project tool capability (supports both Macintosh and PCs) allows project managers to focus on a project’s goals and outcomes, and not worry about tool specific issues.

	Usability ConceptDraw Project 4 is designed to be easier to use, faster to learn and more intuitive for users who are looking for a powerful project management solution that can manage multiple projects. •  ConceptDraw Project 4’s new product registration system allows you to convert your trial version into a full copy of ConceptDraw Project software. With Project 4 there are no additional downloads required. All that is required to activate ConceptDraw Project 4 is to purchase a license from one of our authorized partners, our online store or directly from trained CS Odessa salespeople. Once you have your ConceptDraw Project 4 serial number, it then needs to be entered your trial, which instantly converts the trial to a live product. This process makes it easier than ever to move from trial to actual product, there is no confusion resulting from the existence of a separate trial. •  New project interface is designed for maximum efficiency and to increase workflow. You can easy navigate between project views using the new tabular toolbar. •  On the first time you start ConceptDraw Project 4 you are invited to view a project sample folder included with the product, the contents of this folder is a great introduction to ConceptDraw Project 4’s functionality, bringing you up to speed quickly. •  Help buttons have been added to each of the dialog boxes to aid you in better understanding ConceptDraw Project 4’s functionality. •  Text is now much easier to input and it is also easier to edit task information. The “Enter” key is now used to feed a new line and input a task. Navigation with the arrow keys is also possible. With Project 4 you can easily now add detailed notes and comments to any task, resource or project. •  The Hot Keys assignments have also been redesigned. Now you can use the usual combination of hot keys for common functions. For instance Ctr+C/ Ctr+V – is now used to copy/paste for Windows (Cmd+C/Cmd+V for Macintosh), also we have allocated a number of hot keys for common tasks to improve user productivity. A list of these Hot Keys can be found here: for Macintosh, for Windows •  New progress bar displays an operation’s progress when you are opening a large file or creating a report. This visual indicator of the programs progress keeps you up to date on the product’s internal state. •  Report dialog improvements now include the ability to use a “Select/Deselect all” option which dramatically reduces the time required for report creation. •  Navigation between lines on the graphic side of Gantt Chart view is now possible. When moving between task lines in the Gantt Chart, the corresponding task in the text view is highlighted. It is also possible to use a decimal point when you input percentages to Assign Resource allowing you to increase the efficiency of resource management (example -- now you can enter 50.2%, you are not required to round to 50%). Functionality The functionality boost in ConceptDraw Project 4 allows users to easily resolve the challenges of Project Management successfully and efficiently. •  Resource Usage view The resource usage view displays resource information assigned to each resource in all of the defined project tasks and projects. The resource usage view allows you to plan and manage the contracting of human resources you have assigned to the identified tasks in each project. This is a powerful view that gives you a tremendous amount of control over your resource assignments and costs. •  Automatic date updating When the start date of a project is changed, now the automatic date updating feature changes all of the associated tasks dates, eliminating the need to go back into a project and manually change the project’s dates. Customization ConceptDraw Project 4 is highly customizable to fit the way you want to work. Optimization of project management workflow increases your productivity. •  Formatting Capabilities in ConceptDraw Project 4 have been greatly extended. Now you are able to change the font type and size in each line. There are icon buttons on the toolbar to help you set the necessary font attributes quickly. •  The keyboard and mouse buttons combination “Ctrl-Wheel-Scroll” works in a way of “time-zoom”. It allows you to change the timescale up to needed units. Compatibility The compatibility of ConceptDraw applications with other software products is key point for our users. ConceptDraw developers have worked diligently to provide our users the level of compatibility that allows you to easily collaborate with other people •  Improved integration with ConceptDraw MINDMAP 5 allows you to open a project file in ConceptDraw MINDMAP 5 and display it automatically as a mind map. You can use this capability to brainstorm ideas and to generate task lists for your projects. These can easily be transformed into a project status presentation by exporting to the Web or in Microsoft PowerPoint, this capability allows you to share project information with all stakeholders. The close Integration of ConceptDraw Project 4 with current versions of our other ConceptDraw line products allows you extreme flexibility in workflow and gives you the freedom to accomplish your work in the most expeditious manner possible. •  Enhanced Microsoft Project compatibility gives you the ability to exchange files with users of Microsoft Project and other Project management applications, which support the Microsoft Project XML file format.
