Venn Diagram — Knowledge

This sample demonstrates a Venn Diagram that visualizes Plato's definition of knowledge as an intersection of two sets: Truth and Belief. The example was designed in ConceptDraw DIAGRAM software by means of the Business Diagrams Solution from the Management Area and is based on the Wikimedia Commons file "Belief Venn diagram.svg".

According to Plato's concept, to know that some statement is true, it is needed not only to believe in the truth of it but also to have justification for this. So, only three cases can be possible: a statement is true if it is true, if a subject believes that it is true, or if a subject is justified in believing that a given statement is true.

The sets Truth and Belief differ by color, as a result of colors overlapping the intersection is darker. If desired, you can make the sets equal in color value and visually highlight the intersection to attract attention to it. The key points of any theories and teachings can be easily visualized using the tools of ConceptDraw's Business Diagrams solution.
