Export

ConceptDraw Project allows to export document to formats MindMap Outline, MS Project XML and ConceptDraw XML. This gives you a possibility to share the document with your colleagues working with other programs or keep working with ConceptDraw Project document in a corresponding program.

 

Export to MindMap Outline

Use Export / MindMap Outline in menu File. Dialog Save As will appear. In this dialog indicate the path on your hard disk, where you want the document to be saved. Dialog Export to Outline will open.

In this dialog you can set indent type (Tabulation or Space) and indicate whether subprojects should be included to the exported document (option Include subprojects).

Closing the dialog, do not forget to press OK to save settings.

Then this file can be opened in ConceptDraw MindMap, which will make it a mindmap of the following kind:

In ConceptDraw MindMap it can be not only viewed but also edited, and then imported back to ConceptDraw Project.

Task: Let’s export our document to MindMap Outline. Select tabulation as an indent type. As our project does not include any subprojects, then it doesn’t matter whether this option is activated.

Additional information: Outline format is a text format in which data is stored in accordance with the strict hierarchy and is divided by indents. This format allows to visualize such a document in accordance with data representation in this specific program. For instance, ConceptDraw MindMap basing on the document builds up mindmaps.

If you open this document from file manager, it will have the following look:

 

Export to MS Project XML

Exporting to MS Project XML not only diagram but also resources are exported.

Use Export / MS Project XML in menu File. Dialog Save As will appear.
In this dialog indicate the path on your hard disk, where you want the document to be saved. Dialog Export XML will open.

Export to MS Project XML. MAC

In this dialog, it’s specified which projects should be exported: all projects or just one specific project (in this case, a project is selected from the pop up list).

Closing the dialog, do not forget to press OK to save settings.

This file can be opened in MS Project, where it can be not only viewed but also edited and then imported back to ConceptDraw Project.

Task: Let’s export our document to MS Project XML. As there is only one project in our workspace, then it doesn’t matter which option will be selected.

Additional information: XML format is a text format, a way of markup of documents intended to build some structure in documents and to define relations between different elements of this structure. In this format data is stored in hierarchically organized tree-type structure.

Export to ConceptDraw XML

Export to ConceptDraw XML is done similarly to export to MS Project XML.

Use Export / ConceptDraw XML in menu File . Dialog Save As will appear. In this dialog specify the place on the hard drive where you would like to save the document - dialog Export to XML will open.

This dialog specifies the projects to be exported: all the documents or some specific one (in this case the document is chosed from the pop-up list ), and also whether any subprojects should be included.

Task: Let us export our document to ConceptDraw XML. As there is only one project in our workspace, then in this case it is not so important which option will be chosen.

Besides, in ConceptDraw a document can be exported to many various formats: graphical, HTML, PowerPoint, PDF, Flash, PostScript etc., which will considerably extend possibilities on presenting of the final version of the document.
