Lesson 1. QuickStart. Creating of first project
So, in order to plan a project, we need to make up a task-list, schedule task
completion by dates, and also define resources and assign them to the tasks.
ConceptDraw Project document is a workspace, consisting of a voluntary
number of projects and of a resource set, where each project is displayed as
Gantt Chart. For the workspace a resource sheet is created. These resources
are assigned to project tasks then. To achieve the goal set we’ll learn how
to create a single-project workspace and make up a simple chart.
Creating a workspace with a project
On starting the program a start dialog appears, which provides
options of choice for starting your work: create a new document, choose the
already existing one or open the most recent document.

Press button Start New Document - Change Project Properties dialog will open.
In the dialog the following information should be specified: Project Name,
Start Date, Author, and Company. (Finish Date
is not used in this version).
Task: enter the following into the dialog:
Project Name - Picnic
Start Date - 08/02/2004
Author - Your name
Company - your Company’s name
Let’s name the new workspace "Rest". For this just save the document.
Click on the icon with a floppy disc .
A standard dialog Save As will appear, where the document being
saved should be named.
Task: Create a new workspace "Rest".
We will now create only one project for our workspace, but there can be as
many as one needs. Later on one more project will be added to our workspace
(see Lesson 4), and then we’ll learn how to run
many projects simultaneously.
