The distinctive feature of ConceptDraw Web Wave is a set of remarkable wizards that will prompt us the proper sequence of actions and help us cope with the most complex tasks. In the manual there is description of wizards, where you can learn in detail which wizard is what and what tasks it is intended to solve. Normally, each wizard helps to solve one specific task: analyse a structure of the existing site and present it as a hyperlink map or as a file digram; build a prototype of a new web site on the basis of the old one or from scratch; use Color Generator for the color scheme of the site. But usually tasks before us are quite complex. They require solving many other tasks and using various means. In this series of Lessons we will consider solving some of such complex tasks by means of the only program.

Lesson 4. Presenting information about the site to managers.

So, we have finally finished building the site! All the work on creating the site has been completed, the site is ready now to be placed in the Internet for general use. But we may also need to present it to our colleagues or users. A presentation for the site would be just good for this. this can be easily done in ConceptDraw WebWave by the method of exporting to various formats.

Common task: create a presentation for the site using the material from the previous lessons.

1. Create a web-site presentation (export to HTML / PowerPoint / Macromedia Flash)
2. Create a document in MS Word format

1. Export to HTML / PowerPoint / Macromedia Flash

The two perfect methods for presenting our site are providing the material in HTML, Macromedia Flash formats plus in PowerPoint on a PC. With the help of export you can create ready-to-use presentations, but they should be prepared in advance. For this, let us create a multi-page document and copy all the elements of the future presentation to it.

Create a new document. Now let us add new pages to it and copy the contents of our documents to them. A new page can be added with the help of Add in the menu Page. In the opened dialog, specify the name of the page and press OK.

Add Page

Note: If you wish to somehow artistically design your document you can also add a background page. For more detail, see the Chapter Working with Pages - Background Pages.

Then copy the document contents to a new page. For this, select all the page elements. This can be done with the help of Select All in the menu File or by selecting all the page objects with the mouse in an imaginary rectangle. Now copy them and paste to the new document page. Treat similarly all the pages to be included in the final document.

Let us now export the ready document to HTML (PowerPoint, Macromedia Flash). For this, use Export / HTML (PowerPoint, Macromedia Flash) in the menu File. We now can view the document with any Internet-navigator or demonstrate it in the slide show mode.

Note: You can also add separate elements to the presentation. For this, you may export the required element to a graphic format and add it to the presentation.

Task: Create a presentation in all the three formats using the documents from Lessons 1, 2 and 3.

2. Creating a document in MS Word format

To provide developers with more complete and visual information about the site, all the site elements should be better collected in one document. This can be conveniently done in MS Word. Take the site structure diagram or its prototype and create the according specification:

Site Structure Right Arrow Site Specification

Further follow sets of elements for each section. For this, just copy all the components of the site to the corresponding sections.

Task: create a specification of our site and collect elements for one of the pages.

Summary: in this Lesson we have learned how to present information in the required way: for the site presentation in HTML / PowerPoint / Macromedia Flash formats and as a specification for developers.
